Not all leather is the same, quality ranges from down right poor to superb.
This is why we only use Scottish leather.
Yes, prices of leather furniture have come down over the years but so has the quality. Many retailers sell this type of furniture as do Supermarkets and DIY shops.
It is not only the leather that is poor but everything else underneath as well. As long as you do not expect your furniture to last any longer than a year or so then fine.
This is why Andrew Muirhead leathers are so different.
Allmost all the hides come from farms in a radius of 300 miles from the tannery.
Hides can be split 3 times.
Only the top split hide is kept by the Tannery the 2nd and 3rd split are sold onto other end users.
When we get the hides into the workshop they all have a label and bar code.
Each hide can be traced back to the farm the cow came from.
A test is done on each batch of hide.

has originated anywhere from around the world and not all Tanneries are the same.
