Why renovate?

These chairs, in our opinion, are one of the best on the market and are still in use 10 to 20 odd years later, unfortunately the leather wears out and the surface foams under the leather collapse.

The frames on this type of furniture are normally in good condition but should they require a repair then this is done in our workshop using genuine manufacturer parts.

The Norwegian manufacturer uses soft foam in its manufacture ( mentioned on its own web site ) which is fine for a short period but with all soft foam loses resilience and causes the leather to stretch.

We uprate the foams underneath which gives a much firmer feel to the chair and will stay firmer for many years. Muirhead leather is reknowned world wide as a superb quality leather.

We give a 3 year warranty on our workmanship and leather.

All leather leaves our workshop with protection cream applied and most customers are given a leather care kit.

The leather we use in our recovers is completely different, from the leather used in most shop bought furniture, once you have seen and felt the leather samples you will appreciate the difference.

Normally we use only 2 types of leather, Sateen which has a smooth finish and Ingleston which has a slight grain.Both are protected leathers and top split leathers, to know more about leather click onto the Latest News and Info page.

Over the years we have had chairs and complete suites from as far away as Cornwall to the Shetland Islands in our workshop and all parts of the UK inbetween. We have also had cushions sent from a few places in the USA to be re-covered in Scottish leather.

New leather fitted that was an almost exact match.
It must be remembered that new leather is always
clean and brighter than old, some times dirty sun
faded original leather. Given time it does blend in.

In our renovations we re-new all worn out parts. On
the left is old rotten foam, discoloured with sweat
that has gone through the leather. On the right the
foam has been replaced to original specifications.
