We now have Combined Care & Cleaning kits for leather

As we have said before, care kits on offer from various companies around the country are only for the cleaning of new leather they are not so good at cleaning a dirty suite.

When we clean a suite and this can take up to 3 hours and this is using a machine, including applying the protection cream.

We now offer a combined care and cleaning kit for use by the DIY customer.
The kit will contain the same cleaner and Leather protection cream and applicator etc plus an ink away that we have been safely using for over 8 years.

The kit will have enough cleaner and protection cream to clean up to 3 suites.
The cleaner is in concentrate form that will make over 3 litres of cleaning solution.
If just used as a care kit on new leather then the kit will last for a few years.

You only have to supply water to fill the pump up foam bottle and clean soft towels and some time and effort to achieve a professional result.

Full instructions are given and there is a help line if you require any further information or guidance.

When the cleaner or protection cream is used up we replace the product at a nominal cost so you do not have to buy a new kit.

If you are interested please contact us.

The cleaning kit sent by post £38.00

The cleaning kit picked up £35.00

Yes, the kits may cost more than the
stall holder or internet or TV but do you know
what you are buying?

From our shop

We have remnants of fabric suitable for dining room chairs and
small arm chairs

Most are priced at £7.50 per metre or less.

In stock is leather, from small pieces to half and full size hides.
Many in Scottish leather but also from our
World Wide range.

Foam is cut to order and can usually be done while you wait.

In stock for the DIY person is webbing of different types, dacron, wool, pins, twine etc.

Zig zag springs are supplied ready to fit or we cut to size

For New Leather Only
This product is fine for new leather and is a
combined cleaner and protection cream.
Spray onto the sponge, wipe over the leather and with
a clean towel wipe off.

For used leather and dirty leather you will need the combined care and cleaning kit.

Cushion Fillings

Manufacturers use basic fibre cushion fillings which go flat very quickly.

We use spring back fibre to re-fill cushions.

These come in 3 grades, soft / medium for back cushions and firm for seat cushions.

As the name suggests when sat on the cushion gives softness but when you get out of the seat the cushion springs back into shape.

Sofa and chair webbing upgrades.

The pictures below show a typical sofa or chair fitted with
elastic webbing.
The webbing is quick and simple for manufacturers to fit
and very cheap.
Unfortunately for you the customer the webbing does not
stay elastic for long and in a short
space of time stretches.
This type of webbing can be found in chairs and sofas
that cost £300.00 up to £5000.00

This is a bottom view of a typical webbed sofa.

A normal layout for chairs and sofas is as follows,
the manufacturer fits the elastic webbing and on top
fits a soft foam cushion then maybe a dacron wrap
then the fabric or leather cover.

What happens is that the elastic stretches and the foam
being soft has to follow, then the fabric
or leather stretches.

There is an alternative to cheap and nasty webbing.

You can now have a bed of cone springs which will give
support just like a well sprung mattress.
At this stage new foam cushions can be fitted, we make up the cushions using firm foam with
a soft foam top plus a dacron wrap.Or any combination to suit.

This is a top view of webbing.

This is the stretch on one web with just finger
pressure

This picture shows webbing on the left with the new
cone spring units on the right.

The new cone springs are covered and tied in on
a hessian sheet which gives the base for new
Hi-density foam

Another view of useless webbing
Worth asking when buying a suite if
it has webbing, I have seen suites
up to £5000.00 fitted with webbing.

The sofa has now been fitted with the
coil spring units with a layer of hessian and
one inch hi-density foam and the top cover
re-fitted.
